About MCA Collection
The MCA Collection is a unique global archive of high-quality footage & stills documenting the art, architecture & archaeology of the world’s most iconic sites.
Samuel Magal was born in a kibbutz in southern Israel. As a teenager he started to take an interest in photography and would take his camera along wherever he went. Later he studied for a Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology at Haifa University, and specialised in Classical and Marine Archaeology.
The material provides extensive documentation of the ancient world — including Megalithic, Classical, Islamic, Crusader and Gothic archaeology and architecture, as well as Greek and Roman painting, sculpture, mosaics and decorative arts. The collection is especially strong in its coverage of religious and Biblical sites in Israel, Jordan, Tunisia and Turkey.
Since 1999 Samuel has travelled extensively, photographing and filming hundreds of Mediterranean archaeological sites and museums. His effort and devotion have led to the compilation of a vast archive of over 700,000 stunning images and 60,000 videos pertaining to archaeology, architecture and ancient art.
